Short Bio:
S.K. Wellington is a Calgary-based singer/songwriter blending folk, indie, and pop into genre-bending, heartfelt songs. A 5x YYC Music Award nominee and 3x CBC Searchlight Regional Top 10 artist, she’s opened for Canadian heavyweights Dan Mangan, Donovan Woods, and Sarah MacDougall. Since her 2018 debut EP, she’s released a string of singles and is due for more in 2025. Whether performing a dynamic solo set or with her long-standing five-piece band, Wellington’s live shows feature humour, heart, and audience connection. A proud LGBTQ2S+ artist, she believes music promotes community and inclusion. She’s played many beloved Western Canadian venues.
Long Bio:
S.K. Wellington is a singer/songwriter from Calgary, AB. Wellington has been writing and performing for 13+ years. Her music is a cohesive blend of folk, indie and pop; - never failing to genre-bend to “serve the song”.
She's been nominated 5x for YYCMusic Awards and has also made the Regional Top Ten with CBC's Searchlight competition 3x. Wellington's music has received positive attention across Canada and the States, as well as in the UK. Wellington has secured opening slots for Canadian artists such as Dan Mangan, Donovan Woods, and Sarah MacDougall, and has shared stages with Wyatt C. Louis, Celeigh Cardinall, and many other local Canadian favourites.
Since her debut EP in 2018, Wellington has released a series of singles and is due to release a new string of recordings in early 2026. The Wellington outfit can range from Kemmers as a solo act, to a main core of a five piece band (est.2011). The group is made up of seasoned musicians and the chemistry on stage is palpable; strong harmonies, participatory sections, and tightly executed instrumental breaks. S.K's performances are moving as well as energizing.
S.K. is a proud member of the queer community and an advocate for diversity and inclusion in music. Wellington’s writing is authentic, compassionate, relatable, and always aims to support bringing people together.
S.K. 's band has toured Alberta, Saskatchewan and BC, playing venues such as The Rockwater Grill (Golden), Guilt and Co. (Vancouver), The Copper Owl (Victoria), and Treehouse Cafe (Salt Spring Island). They've also played many-a-Calgary venue, selling out local favourites "The Ironwood" and "The King Eddy", as well as Calgary Festivals, such as Lilac Fest, Sun Fest, Inglewood Night Market, etc.
